About SIG
Special Interest Group (SIG) is a sub group under NECINA which has a more specific focus on their mission such as Optics, eBiz, wireless, Healthcare and so on. SIG's events are open to all NECINA's members. If you are interested in joining any SIG, you have to join NECINA to become a member first. NECINA Special Interest Groups (SIG) are focused in the following functional areas:
Network Infrastructure
The exponential growth of Internet and private IP network has changed the landscape of the both the public and private network infrastructure. Many new network applications are created, and many new network services will be created to support the needs of the applications. The changing demand from the applications and services will require new thinking on how the network is constructed, provisioned, and managed. The network infrastructure must be flexible, secure, and with quality of service (QoS) guarantees. Much of these problems remain to be solved.
Telecommunication
The rapid advance of optical fiber communication technologies has provided an abundance of bandwidth in the past several years. Recent attentions are shifted towards how to harness the raw bandwidth and bring benefits to the vast majority of consumers and businesses. In particular, broadband access and intelligent optical networks are two important areas in telecommunications.
